Mataya Williams
Chief Master Sergeant
CMSgt Mataya C. Williams is the ninth Command Chief Master Sergeant of the 187th Fighter Wing, Dannelly Field, Alabama. Chief Williams serves as the senior enlisted leader for the wing and its three geographically separated units. She is responsible for advising the commander on readiness, mission effectiveness, professional development, training, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of the wing’s enlisted force.
Chief Williams entered the Army in 1997 under the Delayed Entry Program. She completed Army Basic Military Training in 1998 at Fort Leonard wood, Missouri and Advanced Individual training at Fort Lee, Virginia. Her first duty station was Fort Hood, Texas, assigned to 104th Military Intelligence Battalion from 1999-2001.
Chief Williams was assigned to the Army Reserves 926th Engineer Battalion from 2001- 2004. She entered the Alabama Air National Guard and joined the 187th Fighter Wing in 2004 as a member of the Logistics Readiness Squadron. She has held multiple Air Force Specialty Codes and leadership positions including serving in the Traffic Management Office, Supply Orderly Room as the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Wing Lead Administrative Assistant, and Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force Manager. Chief Williams has deployed worldwide in various leadership roles on numerous occasions in support of operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE. Prior to her command chief selection, Chief Williams was the Civil Engineer Squadron Superintendent where she mentored and advised the squadron’s Airmen and Senior NCOs and provided counsel to the squadron commander.
